Another month of empties. Last month I finished quite a few of my favorite products. The one product that I know I'll be missing is the Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor Cream. If you would like to know more about it and some of the other products that I finished, keep reading! ◡̈.

Face Care Empties

Youth to the People Superfood Gentle Antioxidant Cleanser

Price: $39 for 8oz

Previously Reviewed in April’21 Empties

The Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser has been one of my go-to no fuss cleansers for years. It’s one of the cleansers that I enjoyed using for both morning and night routines along with multiple skincare routines in a row. I found the cleanser to work well for my combination (normal to oily) skin. It did a great job at cleansing and never made my skin feel dry. I also like the glass packaging with the pump applicator as it made it easier to dispense. The bottle also allows for easy refills. Being that I have a back-up in my stash, I will definitely be using it in the months to come.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sorbeth-230 Tetraoleate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Chloride, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf (Aloe Vera) Juice Powder, Brassica Oleracea Acephala (Kale) Leaf Extract, Spinacia Oleracea (Spinach) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Medicago Sativa (Alfalfa) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Glycerin, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Decyl Glucoside, Sorbitan Laurate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Gluconolactone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Gardenia Jasminoides (Jasmine) Fruit Extract, Fragrance/Parfum, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Glycolate, Sodium Formate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Limonene, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex (CI 75810).

Cerave Acne Foaming Cleanser

Price: $14.99 for 5oz

The Cerave Acne Foaming Cleanser is a cleanser that I actually used more on my body, than I did on my face. The cleanser is formulated with 4% Benzoyl peroxide to gently remove dirt, oil and make-up without stripping the skin. The cleanser has a gel like consistency and quickly emulsifies into a foam. Being that I don’t break out that often, I would only use this on my face maybe once a week. But I actually preferred using this cleansing on my check, chest and underarms. I sometimes break out on my neck and chest during the summer months and this cleanser did a great job at keeping breakouts at bay. As for my underarms, the Benzoyl peroxide is also known for preventing body odor. It works by killing bacteria on the skin. As someone who only wears natural deodorant, I feel that it works very well – even with only using it a couple of days out of the week. The only con about Benzoyl peroxide is the fact that it will discolor fabrics that it comes in contact with. So, your towels and wash cloths could potentially be bleached by the due to the Benzoyl peroxide.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl, Hydroxysultaine, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Hydroxide, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Eop, Carbomer, Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Hydroxide, Cholesterol, Phenoxyethanol, Propanediol, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium Edta, Diethylhexyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate, Phytosphingosine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Benzoic Acid

Sephora Collection Solid Brush Cleanser

Price: $16

Previous Review- April’22 Empties

I’ve purchased the Sephora Collection Solid Brush Cleanser so many times over the past few years. I typically repurchase it when Sephora has a sale on their collection products. I want to say during these sales their branded products are around 30% off. I find the SC solid brush cleanser very similar to the Beauty Blender solid cleanser. I recommend giving the Sephora Collection a try when it’s on sale.

Hey Honey SWEET TREAT - Wild Berry & Honey Yogurt Recovery Mask

Price: $48 for 2.4oz

The Sweet Treat Mask is formulated with honey, wild berries to help with elasticity, fine lines and to refresh the skin. The mask had a consistency of yogurt and felt cooling on the skin. I typically reached for this mask at least once a week when I wanted a no fuss treatment. After using the mask my face always felt refreshed. I can’t say I noticed any long time or drastic change with my skin when I used it. But I can say I enjoyed using it and would use it again if I had the opportunity to.

The Supergoop Glowscreen is hydrating glowy hybrid sunscreen + primer that also provides blue-light protection. At this point the Glowscreen Sunscreen is available in 4 shades. This was one of my favorite products to use last summer! The formula offers sunscreen protection and a bit of a glowy tint for my skin.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Dark Circle Brightening Eye Cream

Price: $55 for 0.05oz

The Caudalie brightening eye cream is formulated with viniferine, which is known to be 62x more effective than vitamin c to help to brighten the under eyes. It’s also formulated with Niacinamide and Caffeine to help with texture and brighten the under eyes. The eye cream consistency is more on the lighter side and felt more like a serum. The applicator was one of my favorite aspects of the packaging as it has a squeeze tube bottle with a cooling tip. I really like that I didn’t need to dip my fingers into the products to apply. Overall, I think it did a good job at hydrating my under eyes, but I can’t say I noticed much of a difference in terms of brightening my under eyes.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Caffeine, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Niacinamide, Triheptanoin, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Squalane, Palmitoyl Grapevine Shoot Extract, Oleic Acid, Glyceryl Caprylate, Cetyl Alcohol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Carbomer, Terminalia Arjuna Extract, Xanthan Gum, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Tocopherol, Sodium Hydroxide, Lecithin, Sodium Phytate.

The RescueMD DNA is a serum that was developed by plastic surgeons. It helps to rapidly heal and nourish the skin after major skin issues like scars, burns, acne blemishes, and post laser. I’ve used the serum after light chemical peels and incorporated it within my retinol /tretinoin routines. The serum works wonders and it also works very quickly! If you know you’re going to have any medical treatments done or looking to speed up the healing of scar, cuts, or post acne spots, I suggest giving it a try!

Body Care Empties

Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor Collagen-Boosting Elasti-Cream with Bio-Retinol and Squalane

Price: $48 for 8.1oz

Previous Review

The Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor is one of my favorite moisturizers in general and one my favorites that brand has to offer. The Beija Flor scent is described as having a fruity floral scent with notes of Brazilian Jasmine, Pink Dragon fruit and Sheer Vanilla. Each Sol de Janeiro cream tends to have and underlying focus. For example, the Beija Flor is formulated with a natural alternative to retinol that is supposed to help boost collagen, elasticity, plump and smooth the skin. I can say this is most moisturizing cream out of all the Sol de Janeiro variations. I look at the incorporation of the bio-retinol as a plus. While using it my skin was moisturized, very soft and smelled amazing. I can’t really say if it did much for improving the elasticity of my skin, but that was not my main intention when using it. The was also one of my favorite body lotions to use when layering different scents together. I already have a back up of this cream ready to go and once that’s finished, I will definitely be repurchasing!

Ingredients: Aqua (Water, Eau), Cetearyl Alcohol, Parfum (Fragrance), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isopentyldiol, Glyceryl Stearate, C13-16 Isoparaffin, Glycerin, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Caryodendron Orinocense (Cacay) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Behenyl Alcohol, Squalane, Collagen Amino Acid, Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuaçu) Seed Butter, Copaifera Officinalis (Balsam Copaiba) Resin, Astrocaryum Vulgare (Tucumã) Kernel Oil, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Tocopherol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Heptyl Undecylenate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Mica, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Salicylate, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple Shower Gel

Price: $15.95

Fragrance notes: red apples, winter rose petals, candied oranges, maple leaf and fresh cinnamon.

The Winter Candy Apple Shower Gel smells like a juicy apple. The fragrance in my opinion smells bright and refreshing but in a holiday scent way. I really enjoyed the scent and didn’t find it overly sweet. At this current time this scent is out of season, but will be around during the fall and winter months. As for the shower gel formula, I like how well the formula suds up and how clean my skin feels after using it.

Hair Care Empties

One of my holy grail haircare products. The hair pomade has been in my routine for the past 10 years or so. As soon I finish one jar, I quickly repurchase another. If you would like more information about it, check out the post here – Ride or Die: Hair Care Favorites

The Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam

Price: $14.99 for 7oz

This is a hair mousse that’s great for curly hair types-especially those with tighter curls. The Mousse helps to define curls and provide a lasting hold without a crunchy feeling to hair. This mousse feels so light on my hair and I never experience any flakes when using it. This mousse is designed to be a one in done type of product and I seeing this working for many in this way, but I typically use this in a cocktail with 2 other products. I use this in conjunction with other products for my twist outs to ensure that my will be moisturized, defined, and set for multiple days at time. Since finishing this bottle I’ve already repurchased another bottle! Previously Reviewed February’23 Empties -

Candles & Misc. Empties

Mala the Brand in Candy Cane

Price: $22 for 4.3 oz

During the holiday season I stocked up on a bunch of the Mala the Brand Candles. Their cereal candle smells just like fruity pebbles, so I wanted to try out more of their scents. I really love that the candles are housed in what looks like a metal tin/can and all have wood wicks. There’s just something about the sound of hearing a wood wick candle burning that I just love. I believe this scent is from their Holiday Collection. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the candy cane scent. It was nice and the scent wasn’t overwhelming, which I appreciate. The candle wax is what would be more of a clean candle as its made with coconut and soy wax. In the past I’ve heard issues about their wood wicks, but I never had any issues with them until I burned this candle. I’m not sure why, but some of the times I burned this candle it would go out on its own. Not sure if this linked to the wick or maybe the candle being from a past season.

Bath and Body Work Rose Water Ivy & Mahogany Woods Candle

Price: $26.95 for 14.5oz 3 wick

Rose Water & Ivy notes: soft rose petals, rain-kissed English ivy, lemon blossom and soft spring musk.

Mahogany Teakwood notes: rich mahogany, black teakwood, dark oak and frosted lavender.

Two of Bath and Body Works scents combined into one. This scent may be a seasonal one since I’ve never seen the two combined prior. I really love the combination of the two scents combined. The Rose Water & Ivy scent is a soft rose scent that gives off a spring like scent. The Mahogany Teakwood scent is a rich woodsy scent that is perfect for the fall and winter months. I know Bath and Body Work candles are not made with the best ingredients, but they have some of my favorite fragrances, so I do buy them from time to time. Another thing to note is that the wax for their candles tend to burn pretty quickly. Being that I only purchase the candles only when they’re on sale, I really don’t mind that they burn on the quicker side. If I come across this candle blend again, I would definitely repurchase.

Maison Margiela By the Fireplace Candle

Price: $70 for 5.8oz

Key Notes: Clove Oil, Chestnut Accord, Vanilla Accord

The By the Fireplace is one of my favorite Replica scents and I loved that Replica decided to make a matching candle. The candle has a fragrance description of burning wood and chestnut and its spot on. By the Fireplace is one of my favorite candles to burn during the fall and winter months. For an average size candle, the scent throw was very good. Hours after the candle was not even burning, I could still smell the lingering scent of a sweet, smoky campfire aroma. With this being a candle with a luxury price tag, I burned it sparingly and for short periods of time when I did (1-2 hours). With this type of burning schedule the candle lasted me for several months. I already have a back up that I was able to snag in a Sephora candle sampler set. I would definitely repurchase in the future if I was able to get it on sale.

HUM Here Comes the Sun

Price: $15 for 30 capsules

The Here Comes the Sun supplements from HUM is described as a high potency vegan vitamin c supplement. The recommended dosage is 1 capsule making this bottle a 1 month supply. As someone who was previously on a prescription-based Vitamin D supplement, it’s important for me to take Vitamin D supplement daily. I really liked these from HUM. I like that I only needed to take one capsule per day and that the capsules were so small – making them easy to swallow. When taking it I never had issues with it upsetting my stomach or any adverse effects. My own qualm is the brand is not that easy to find in store. I would definitely repurchase again.

Peach Slices Deep Blemish Micro Dart Pimple Patches

Price: $8.99 for 9 patches

I really don’t speak often on breaking out and products targeted for acne since I don’t break out that often, but when I do, it’s the worst! From time to time, I get underneath the skin pimples, and I find these to be one of the worst when it comes to healing them. Being that they’re underneath the skin there’s no head or access point to pop them. These types of spots also tend to be painful and linger for quite a few weeks at a time.

The Peace Slices Deep Blemish MicroDart patches are designed specifically for early-stage/ blemishes that are below the surface of the skin. Unlike other patches, I don’t think they aim to actually remove gunk, but more so flatten spots. They more so lightly lance the spot, which allows for what little gunk that is there to be removed and to overall aid in the healing process. With that said, at least 2-3 patches will likely be needed per spot. A few of the times I used the patches they left some what of a ring bruise around the spot, which actually made the spot look more prominent. With these patches I’m on the fence, I feel like they work some what to help flatten spots, but then at the same time I feel like they caused a circular bruise around the actual spot of the pimple. Also 9 patches for $9 is very much on the pricey side when 2-3 patches are needed per blemish. I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this particular version in the future.
