November & December '23 Empties

So so late with my empties, but we’re here ◡̈ From these past two months of November and December empties I finished quite a few repeat products that I’ve tried and reviewed in the past. For me to use a product over and over again, usually means I really enjoyed using it. One of the products that I recently finished and loved was the Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum. Keep reading for a full on review on it!

What are some of your recent empties?

Cleansers

La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser

Price: $18.99 for 13.5oz

The La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser is targeted to those that have dry and sensitive skin types. My skin type is neither, but I love incorporating a hydrating cleanser into my routine. This is an oil-free cleanser that helps to remove oil, impurities, and makeup. As with most La Roche Posay products, their products contain ingredients to help maintain a healthy barrier of the skin. I typically used this cleanser during my morning routines and whenever I just wanted to do a gentle routine. I really like that this one has a creamy consistency and feels really calming on my skin. The fact that it has a pump package applicator, make it a lot easier to not dispense too much at a time – especially being that the bottle is a rather large size. I also used this cleanser on several occasions to areas like my neck, chest and back when those areas felt sensitized. I really love this cleanser and found myself reaching for it daily!

Ingredients: Aqua / Water / Eau (La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water), Glycerin, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Propylene Glycol, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Polysorbate 60, Ceramide Np, Niacinamide, Sodium Chloride, Coco-Betaine, Disodium Edta, Caprylyl Glycol, Panthenol, T-Butyl Alcohol, Tocopherol.

Kinship Naked Papaya Cleanser

Price: $24.00

The Kinship Naked Papaya Cleanser is a favorite of mine, and this is actually my second time finishing this cleanser. The Naked Papaya cleanser has a creamy milky consistency that doesn’t foam up like typical cleansers. I found it to be pretty hydrating and cleansed my skin well. I reached for the cleanser in both my morning and evening skincare routines. I found that the incorporation of Papaya Enzymes was a nice addition to help with gently cleansing and purifying my skin. I do think this cleanser is great for all skin types, but especially those that have an oilier skin type. I especially enjoyed using this cleanser during the warmer months when my skin was more on the oily side. Being that I really enjoyed using this cleanser and the price point is more on the affordable side, I would definitely recommend and repurchase in the future.

Elemis Pro Collagen Neroli Cleansing Balm

Price: $40 for 1.7oz for one and $80 for Cleansing Trio

The Elemis Pro Cleansing Balms are one of my favorites when it comes to luxury cleansing balms. I believe the Neroli scent was a limited edition scent that was a part of a three pack, nonetheless the balm still mirrored all of the previous Elemis cleansing balms that I’ve tried in the past. The Elemis cleansing balm is a hydrating balm used as the first step of a cleansing routine. The balm helps to melt away makeup, sunscreen, and impurities from the skin. I find that the Elemis cleansing balm does a great job at removing makeup. Once removed my skin feels clean, refreshed, and hydrated! I also like the balm can be used as a hydrating mask. It’s definitely a pricier option for cleansing, but the balm tends to go on sale at different retailers.

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, PEG-8 Beeswax, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Sambucus Nigra (Elderberry) Seed Oil, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Silica, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Cera (Wax), Glycerin, Lecithin, Padina Pavonica Thallus Extract, Borago Officinalis (Starflower) Seed Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Acacia Decurrens (Mimosa) Flower Wax, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Rosa Multiflora (Rose) Flower Cera (Wax), Lavandula Hybrida (Lavandin) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil, Geraniol, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Tocopherol, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Oil, Citronellol, Cinnamomum Camphora (Ho Wood) Wood Oil, Limonene, Mentha Arvensis (Mint) Leaf Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Menthol, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Citric Acid.

The Sunday Riley Pink Drink is formulated with a peptide and prebiotic complex along with green tea. Essences are used to prep the skin to help other skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin. I love how well the essence hydrated my skin and the overall look it gave to my skin. Although the product is on the pricier side, I really enjoyed using it and would love to have it back into my routine.

Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum

Price: $21.99 for 1oz

The Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum is formulated with 5 different ceramides to help maintain and improve the natural barrier of the skin. The serum also helps to hydrate the skin and encourage ceramide production. The serum also contains Lactic acid, which I’m guessing is a very small amount based on the where it’s placed within the ingredient list and from experience of using the serum. I really enjoyed using this serum as more of a preventative within my tretinoin (retinol) routine. I found the serum to really help with moisture and helped to keep my barrier of my skin looking and feeling healthy. When using tretinoin I often suffer with dry skin patches and sometimes sensitized skin. While using the Ceramide Barrier Serum in my routines I’ve noticed fewer dry patches and my skin overall looked and felt healthier. I can’t recommend this serum enough! The price is great and I feel like all skin types would be able to use this and see the benefits from it.

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Propanediol, Squalane**, Glycerin**, Sodium Citrate, Beta-Glucan, Lysolecithin, Sclerotium Gum, Pullulan, Xanthan Gum, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ns, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Eos, Ceramide Eop, Musa Sapientum (Banana) Leaf/Trunk Extract, Tocopherol***, Calcium Gluconate, Cetyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ceteareth-25, Arginine, Silica, Caprooyl Phytosphingosine, Caprooyl Sphingosine, Cholesterol, Gluconolactone, Lactic Acid**, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Benzoate, Behenic Acid.

Paula’s Choice 25% Vitamin C + Glutathione Clinical Serum

Price: $62 for 1oz

I have a full blogpost about this serum along with all the other vitamin c serums that I’ve tried over the years- HERE. But I have to say this one is a new favorite vitamin c serum for me. If you want to find out more about it, check out my detailed post.

Farmacy Honey Halo Moisturizer

Price: $48 for 1.7oz

Previous Blog Post: Moisturizers for Combo Skin- Winter Edition

The Farmacy Honey Halo Moisturizer has a been a favorite of mine for the past few years. I find it to be such a great moisturizer to use during the winter months, but I also enjoyed using it during the summer months at night for my tretinoin routines! The inclusion of ceramides within the moisturizer helps the skin to maintain a healthy skin barrier. I can’t recommend this moisturizer enough and will be opening another jar asap!

Supergoop Play Everyday Lotion Spf 30

Price: $24 for 2.4oz

The Supergoop Play Lotion sunscreen has to be one of my favorite formulas that can be used on both the face and the body. The sunscreen feels like a lotion and absorbs into the skin very well. Being that this is a chemical-based sunscreen, I never had any issues with a white cast from it. Over the years I’ve gone through several tubes of it. One of the things I love about this sunscreen is it comes in various sizes from. If you would like to see more an in-depth review and try on of it, check it out HERE.

Patchology – Flashpatch Illuminating Eye Gels

Price: $35 for 15 pairs

When I initially tried these, I thought they were actually too slippery, and they slide down my face. I decided to pour out some of the liquid and I found this really helped with them not being too slippery. The eye gels are formulated with Green Tea, Mulberry Extract, and Vitamin C to help hydrate and brighten the under-eye area. With most eye gels I find them to be more of a temporary solution. These eye gels did a great job and hydrating my under eyes and helped depuff the my under eyes. I liked them, but can’t say I loved them. I do think them being $35 for only 15 pairs as being kind of pricey.

Bl’Eau Glacial Oceanic Clay Mask

Price: $59.00 for 1.7 oz

The Bl’Eau Glacial Oceanic Clay Mask is formulated with glacial oceanic clay with coconut oil and other natural organic ingredients. The mask aims to detox, hydrate and repair the skin. Over the years I’ve gotten accustomed to clay masks being super drying and leaving my skin feel dry and almost dehydrated. But the Bl’eau mask is one of the first clay masks that I’ve tried that doesn’t leave my skin feeling super tight and dry. I really enjoyed using this mask year round. After each application my skin always felt hydrated and refreshed!

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber De-Tox Hydra Gel Eye Patches

Price: $55 for 30 pairs

The PTR Cucumber Eye Gels aim to detox and sooth the under eye area with key ingredients of cucumber extract, chamomile, aloe and niacinamide. I think the eye gels do a great job at soothing and hydrating the undereye. I really like that they stay in place when using them. But like I said before, I find eye gels to be a nice temporary solution.

Haircare Empties

 Vegamour Hydr8 Leave-in Conditioner
Price: $16 for mini size

The Vegamour Leave-in Conditioner is formulated with key ingredients like Karmatin, Mushroom Extract and Amino Acid Blend to help hydrate and protect the hair while incorporating vegan keratin. The conditioner comes In a bottle with a spray applicator, which made it very easy to apply it directly to my hair. One of the best things about this leave in is that can be used as a heat protectant. I really enjoyed using this conditioner and I think it did a great job at providing my hair with moisture and helped to cut down on some of the fizziness I would often battle with after washing my hair. I actually found that using this actually sped up my routine. After my hair was freshly washed and conditioned, I applied the leave-on and it served as a detangler, conditioner and heat protectant. I have curly coily hair that is one the dry side and this leave in worked great for me!

Olaplex No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment

Price: $30 for 5.2 oz

Further Reading Olaplex Line Review

Many of the Olaplex products has been in my routine for quite sometime and I have tried the Olaplex No.0 a few times. I thought this time around I would try to only use No3 The Hair Repair Perfector and No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment together. The No.0 helps to primes the hair for the No.3 to be used directly after. I do think the system works better together and I would like to continue using them together to finish testing out this method. I do wish the size of the No.0 was a little bigger. I feel like I go through a good deal of product with each application.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol

Body Care Empties

Paula’s Choice 5% Niacinamide Body Serum

Price: $29.00 for 4oz

The Niacinamide Body Serum is formulated with 5% niacinamide + 5% d-panthenol. This combination helps to combat uneven skin and restore/maintain the barrier of the skin. I typically applied the serum to my body several times a week without a moisturizer. I found that pairing the body serum with a body lotion left the product piling on my skin. The body serum itself is moisturizing. I was able to use the serum during my fall and winter night routines and the next morning my skin would still feel hydrated. I used the serum about 2x a week and I noticed that it left my skin feel moisturized and feeling smooth. But I can’t say that I noticed a change with uneven areas being more even toned. Maybe if I used it more often like 3 days a week or more I would’ve seen more of a difference. Overall, I really enjoyed using and never experienced any type of sensitivity while using it.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter

Price: $38 for 8oz

Unlike other body butters that I’ve tried in the past, I found these to be whipped with a light consistency. When I noticed this, I thought the body butter was going to be light on the moisture level, but I was proven wrong. The Body Butter is described as oil powdered body butter that’s formulated with antioxidants and rich fatty acids to moisturize and firm the skin. I honestly think the Josie Maran body butters are amazing! I find that the moisturized my body so well. The body butters come in both scented and unscented variations, so there’s even something for those that have sensitive skin. I would highly recommend trying these out if you can.

Ingredients: Water** (and) Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride**, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)**, Glycerin**, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil**, Glyceryl Stearate**, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyl Dimethyl Taurate Copolymer**, Squalane**, Polysorbate-60**, Ethylhexylglycerin**, Helianthus Annuus (Hybrid Sunflower) Oil**, Tocopherol, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract**, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Extract**, Dipteryx Odorata (Tonka) Seed Extract** Pyrus Communis (Pear) Fruit Extract**, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract**, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Bean) Fruit Extract**, Cetearyl Glucoside, Cetearyl Alcohol**, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil**, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract**, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract**, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract**, Allantoin**, Panthenol**, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract**, Beta Carotene**.

Everist Waterless Body Wash Concentrate

Price: $24 for 3.4 oz.

The Waterless Body Wash Concentrate is activated with water. The Body wash looks like a thick cream prior to be in being emulsified with water. Once emulsified with water cream transforms in almost a foamy milky consistency. I know the body wash is labeled as being free of synthetic fragrances, but it definitely contains a noticeable scent. The description states that it has notes of bergamot, orange peel, rosemary, clary sage and peppermint. I find that the peppermint and orange peel notes stand out the most. I find the scent to be very pleasant, especially for morning showers when you need a little something to wake you up. I didn’t think I would enjoy this concentrated body wash as much as I did, but I really enjoyed using it. Overall, I think it did a great job at cleansing my body and giving me a clean feeling without drying out my skin. I would definitely give this another try in the future and hopefully they come out with more scents.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Polyglyceryl-3 Betainate Acetate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Propanediol, Glyceryl Caprylate/Caprate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Sclerotium Gum, Lysolecithin, Xanthan Gum Pullulan, Maris Sal, Citric Acid

Bath and Body Works – Sunkissed

Price: $14.95

Fragrance Notes: Vanilla, Orange Blossom, Sea Salt

I have a pretty decent Bath and Body Works Collection that I’m working my way through. I use many of the body washes alongside regular body washes. I find that many of the scents smell so good and are uplifting.

Described as a warm, beach-day blend of sun-drenched orange blossom, sparkling sea salt and vanilla breeze. Compared to a lot of the other BBW shower gels that I’ve tried, I found this one to be on the lighter side- nonetheless I still really enjoyed this scent. I’m not sure if the scent has been discontinued or just not in stock due it being a seasonal product.

First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser

Price: $34 for 10 oz. (jumbo size)

This body scrub is still one of my favorites and I really haven’t found anything that works as effectively as this one. If you deal with keratosis pilaris or just rough bumpy skin on your body, I would highly recommend checking this out!

At this point I’ve gone through so many tubes over the year. If you would like to check out one of my previous detailed reviews, click HERE.

Minis and Candles

Kopari KP Body Bumps Be Gone With 10% AHA

Price: 0.5 oz. sample size

I believe this mini came as a gift with purchase with one of my Ulta Beauty orders and it was such a great way to test out this new scrub. The Kopari KP Bumps Be Gone scrub is described as gentle yet effective body scrub that is formulated with 10% AHA [Glycolic Acid (5.5%) and Lactic Acid (4.5%)]. I really like how well the scrub physically exfoliated my skin. With this mini size I was only able to get about 2-3 applications with it, but I would definitely consider giving a full size a try. I would love to see how it would compare to the First Aid Beauty Scrub.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Pumice, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Stearic Acid, Decyl Glucoside, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Oleate Decylglucoside Crosspolymer, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Lauryl Glucoside, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbitol (Sugar Based), Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Shell Powder, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Volcanic Sand, Lactobacillus Ferment, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Glycerin*, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract*.

Tatcha The Water Cream

Price: $23 for 0.34oz

Still one of my favorite moisturizers of all time! If you have normal to oily skin, I would recommend trying it out if you can! If your would like to read more about it, check out one of my previous reviews HERE.

Trader Joe’s Vanilla Pumpkin Candle

Price: $3.99 for 4oz.

The TJ’s candle are some of my favorite! They’re small and are great for small areas. The pumpkin vanilla was such a nice blend of pumpkin and vanilla that wasn’t overly sweet. With notes of vanilla, pumpkin, cinnamon and cloves this candle was perfection for the fall but could easily be burned year-round. I loved burning this candle at the entrance of my home. Based on the 4 oz size they’re projected to give off 20 hours of burning time. I can definitely say that the candle gave off a great projection for this area and lingered nicely. As with many of the trader joe’s products, this is a seasonal item and only around for the fall season. If it sounds like something you make like, look out for it this fall!

Apotheke Charcoal Candle

Price: $44 for 10.5oz | 60-70 hours burn time

I wasn’t sure what to expect with a candle scent such as charcoal. For some reason I thought it would just smell smokey. The candle indeed does smell smokey but in the best way possible. With woody scent notes along with cloves, cinnamon, and raspberry, I can say the mixture was quite lovely. I burned this candle during the fall and winter months mornings and nights, and I really enjoyed it! The scent is very much an everyday type of fall/winter scent. Apotheke candles are with made with soy wax, they burned evenly and well. The vessel and the wax are both black, which I find to be very aesthetically pleasing.
