Gentle PM Routine- No Actives

At least one day out of the week I like to do a gentle skincare routine. When I say gentle, I mean no strong actives. I do this routine as a way to nourish my skin and take a break from potent ingredients. To make it easier to remember, I usually do this routine in the middle of the week each -mostly Wednesday’s. This routine can be short or as long as you want it to be.

The optional steps would be a great addition if you have dry or dehydrated skin like myself.

Cleansing (Double Cleansing)

Whether you are wearing a full face of make-up or just sunscreen, I think double cleansing is important to do each and every night. I think the only exception to this would be if you didn’t apply sunscreen during the day. I apply sunscreen daily (even on cloudy days) and I try my best to reapply throughout the day. Therefore, double cleansing is in important for me.

1st Step Cleanser-I like both cleansing oils and cleansing balms, but I find cleansing balms to be thicker and a little more nourishing for my skin.

2nd Step Cleanser- My second step cleanser is generally one that is on the creamy side. I find that cleansers with these textures tend to be super moisturizing for my skin.

Farmacy Whipped Greens

Alpha H Balancing Cleanser

Masking (wash-off) * Optional*

This a step that is completely optional. I know a lot of people say they don’t have the time and energy for a face mask at night. Believe me I often feel this way too! What I usually do is apply a mask and set a timer for the length of the mask. During time, I’ll do tasks around my home like load the dishwasher, pick out my clothes for the next day and etc. When you’re not thinking about it, the time goes by pretty quickly.

Eye cream

Cocokind Revitalizing Eye Cream

Toner

I use a toner each and every night. I go back and forth between hydrating ones and BHA toners. The First Aid Beauty Oat Toner is a favorite when my skin is going through it, or if I’m just looking for some extra TLC. As for BHA toners, I’ve been loving the Glow Recipe Watermelon Pore Tight Toner. I also find this one to be pretty hydrating as it’s made with hyaluronic acid.

Essence (optional)

Many people consider an essence as an extra in their skincare routine. I agree, it’s not something that is not needed, but it’s something that I love to use morning and night. I use an essence as an extra hydration step in my routine. Some people apply 2-3 layers of an essence, but I find 1-2 to be enough for me.

Fresh Kombucha Essence

Serums

The more hydrating the better.

Caudalie Vinosource Serum

Moisturizer/Sleeping Mask

-Youth to The People - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask with Vitamin C- this is my go to when I want an ultra moisturizing cream or facemask. I often use this on its own when I’m too tired to do a full routine.

Facial Oil (optional)

Youth to the People - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Oil

This is one of my favorite oils and I’m constantly reaching for it. I have combo skin and I find that this one has a great consistency.
