Pre-Gym Skincare Routine

If you've been following me on Instagram (click here), then you may have noticed that I've been going to the gym at least 3x week! As you know, I'm a beauty fanatic so  I thought I should share my Pre-Gym Skincare Routine. I go back and forth through multiple products, but I try my best keep it to my routine to a minimum. My Post-Gym Skincare Routine will be coming soon!

Please keep in mind the products and steps that are mentioned works best for me. You do not have to use the same products that I do. I just thought I would share what works best for me.

Cleansing

I do not wear make-up to the gym. The combination of sweating and foundation sounds to me like a perfect equation for clogged pores. However, I've been known to dab on a little highlighter to my high points of my cheeks, but its not something that I would regularly do.

Garnier Skinactive Micellar Water

Some people may do a full on cleansing with a facial cleanser before the gym, but I like to just use Micellar Water. I usually don't wear make-up everyday and I feel like it cleans my skin well enough without stripping it. My favorite Micellar Water is the Garnier Skinactive. I've tried both the liquid Micellar water verison along with the wipes and I like them both. The water is good to keep at home as the bottle lasts a long time and the wipes are good for on the go/gym bag.

Essence

(This step may be optional to many. But I prefer to use essence instead of a toner during my pre-gym skincare routine)

I've recently added an Essence to my skincare routine. I was able to get a deluxe size sample from one of my recent Sephora orders. I really love the majority of the products that I've tried out from the Fresh Black Tea line. The Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence is made for all skin types and is described as a solution for fine lines/wrinkles, dullness and pores.

The Black Tea Kombucha Essence is hydrating and also tones my skin. I really like it, but I'm not sure if 'll be purchasing the full size as there are a few other on the market that I would like to try out before fully committing to this one.

Eye Cream

Eye cream is always necessary. I use eye cream both in the morning and night. Lately, I've been using and really enjoying the Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel. The formula is lightweight but formula is still very hydrating and absorbs quickly into the eye area. The Squalane properties used in the formula are all natural and great for hydration.

Serum

I know this next step may be debatable to some. But I like to use a light serum or face oil to the gym. When deciding what to use I usually look for one that is more on the natural side and free of harsh acids. I go back and forth between between  a few different products. But lately my go to product has been the Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum. The formula is light but yet still very hydrating!

Moisturizer

I'll admit it, when I purchased the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum I wasn't actually sure how to use it. The hydration gel is mostly known to be mixed with other serums or moisturizers to provide additional hydration. As someone with combo skin that leans more to the oily side, most moisturizers provide more than enough hydration for me. The best way for me to use the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra is as a a light moisturizer.

When used with the hydrating serum from the previous step, the B-Hydra Serum provides the perfect level of hydration for me prior to working out!

Sunscreen

This step may be optional based on the location of your gym and the time of the day that you workout. Lately I've been working out in the morning. I often forget to apply sunscreen before heading out, but I usually carry a travel size with me. I don't know how many times I can mention the SuperGoop Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50, but it's my go to sunscreen as it's so easy to use.

Supergoop Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50 $24

Overall, my goal with my pre-gym skincare is to make sure my skin is clean and hydrated prior to working out.
