Top 10 Beauty Products of 2018

During the 2018 calendar year I tried out many diffeerent beauty products from drug store to high end. As the year is ending I thought I would share my Top 10 Products of 2018 I haven’t been unable to put down. These items that are mentioned are items that I use on a regular basis. Many of the products have already been repurchased or will be repurchased once they are finished. Keep in mind these items are not ranked in any particular order.

Price: $68, Size 1.7 ounces

As many of you may know the Tatcha Water Cream has been one of my favorite beauty finds doing the 2018 year. This may be the only moisturizer within my arsenal that is best suited for my skin texture all year round. I say that because many of the other moisturizers that I enjoy using are heavier and are only suitable for colder/drier temperatures or for evening use only.

I guess it may be safe to say that the Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Baby Facial is my favorite item from their line. The TLC Sukari Baby Facial is AHA/BHA pro quality mask. The mask is recommended to be used once a week. I usually it on Sundays as a restart to my week. Since trying out this special mask, I haven’t been able to be without it. I know the price of the full size can be little scary, but I’m so happy they came out with with a mini size of 0.5 ounces for $28 and it includes a mini virgin marula oil. If you’re on the fence about purchasing the full price, the mini is very affordable.

The Son and Park Toner is one of my favorite toners. Since purchasing it at the beginning of the year, I’ve already repurchased it about a month ago. It’s listed as a Beauty Water, but its a multi-purpose magical liquid (lol). I’ve mentioned in a previous blog post that I was able to see a noticeable change with my skin since using the Son and Park Beauty Water. I use this as my everyday toner twice a day (morning and night).

laneige_lip_mask_berry.jpg

Price: $20, Size 0.7 oz

The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has been seen all over Instagram and YouTube throughout the 2018 year. At first I thought it was just hype. I tried a sample and within my first use of the lip mask I knew I was going to purchase the full size. The lip mask is recommended to apply generously to the lips in the evening and leave on overnight. Gently wipe off or cleanse in the morning. I use this mask of course at night, but I really enjoy using this during the day. I use the mask as regular lip gloss. The mask of course leaves your lip very hydrated after it wears off. It also provides a nice level of shine, but is not sticky.

I like this lip mask so much that I’ve purchased a few as gifts during the year. Based on the size and the small amount of product that is needed, the full size will last a pretty long time.

fresh-rose-mask.jpg

Price $25, Size 1oz

I guess it’s safe to say that the Fresh Rose Mask is one of my favorite hydrating masks that I ever used. I’ve tried samples of this mask in the past, but I finally purchased it in 2018. Although the mask is hydrating, this is a universal mask that works with all skin types. There’s not many beauty products that can live up to those claims and the Fresh Rose Mask definitely does.

The directions state that the a generous amount of the mask should be applied to damp skin, avoiding the eye area. Its recommended to be left on for five to 10 minutes and rinse. I usually leave the mask on for 20- 30 minutes. After the mask is washed off my face feels toned, hydrated and smooth. This a mask that I’ll continue to purchase. I use it about once a week when I have the extra time to leave it on.

Price: $52, Size: .51oz /15mL

I tried out multiple eye creams and eye gels. But after trying a few samples of the Biossance eye gel I’m convinced I need to purchase the full size asap. The eye gel is very soothing to the eye area and helps with moisture. I really can’t attest to its claim of helping with dark circles as I don’t have prominent dark circles. I also like the the eye gel is made with with a plant based squalene as it’s known to be extremely hydrating. 1 pump of the eye gel is enough for both eyes. The mini sample that I have has lasted me a while and after it finishes I’m purchasing the full size. The best thing about this eye gel is that made with all clean ingredients.

KEY INGREDIENTS according to the Biossance website

  • SQUALANE: Instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture

  • EYESERYL & ARGIRELINE: Reduces the look of dark circles and puffiness

Price: $60, Size: 0.5 ounces

I’ve tried a few samples of the Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum. I find the serum hydrating and a little of the product goes a long way. I use pump to my under eye area and then I apply the remainder to my eyebrows. I honestly think the this helped my eyebrows grow due to the copper peptides. I hoping to purchase a full size of the eye gel when my current sample is finished.

I plan on using The Drunk Elephant Eye gel in the evening and using the Biossance eye gel in the morning. I may even try using them together to see if I notice a difference with the results.

Price: $10 for 165 sheets

I’ve been using the Shiseido facial cotton since August and since then I’ve repurchased it. This is another one of the items that I thought was just popular due to hype. But after trying these out I haven’t been able to use any other facial cotton. I generally use them with micellar water and with my toner. One pad is usually enough for whole entire face.

I have a full review on these sheets from a previous blog post, click here to check it out.

Price: $11 for 1 ounce $40 for 8 ounces

I’ve purchased the Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil exfoliating shampoo twice. This unique shampoo has helped deeply cleanse my hair and scalp without over drying my hair. For me a little of the product goes a long way. If you have very long or thick hair, then the 1 ounce size may not do much for you. My only con about the product is the price. As mentioned, the 1 ounce size retails for $11 and the full size of 8 ounces retails for $42. Until I’m ready to take the plunge in purchasing the full size I’ll continue to use the mini size.

Ingredients: Water, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate*, Cocamidopropyl Betaine*, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate*, Glycerin*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate*, Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate*, Microcrystalline Cellulose*, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lithium Magnesium Sodium Silicate, Panthenol*, Xylitylglucoside*, Charcoal Powder, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Anhydroxylitol*, Bisabolol*, Menthyl Lactate*, Xylitol*, Polyquaternium-7, Fragrance. *Coconut, vegetable, plant, or sugar derived.

Price: $28, Size 3.30z.

I’ve using the Olaplex No.3 treatment since August. Since then it has saved my hair. Prior to using the Olaplex I was suffering with severe heat damage that cause a lot of breakage with my hair. The first thing I noticed after using the Olaplex is less shedding. After a few uses my hair became and felt stronger. This is a not a conditioner or deep conditioner, its only a treatment.

I use mine by lightly washing my hair to remove any product build-up (i.e. gel), then I apply the treatment to damp hair and put on a shower cap. I typically leave the treatment in over night and wash it out the next morning. After the treatment is washed out I follow-up with a shampoo, conditioner and then a deep conditioner.

For me using the treatment is time consuming, but it has tremendously helped my hair and that’s why I continue to use it. Besides the lengthy process of using it, the other con would be the price. Three ounces of product is not a lot and each bottle has lasted me about 4 uses (sometimes 5). If you have long or very thick hair, you would maybe get 3 to 4 uses. I’ve repurchased the treatment about 2 times since August and will continue to repurchase it until I feel like I can find something that works better.
